Head of Engineering – Software Development
We are seeking a strategic, technically adept, and inspirational leader to direct our software engineering organization. The Head of Engineering will own the technical vision, execution strategy, and delivery excellence for our software platforms, products, and services. This role requires strong leadership, deep software engineering expertise, and the ability to partner with Product, Design, and Business Leaders to drive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and communicate a clear engineering roadmap aligned with company strategy, product priorities, and customer needs.
- Lead, coach, and grow an high-performing engineering organization across multiple teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Architect scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions, patterns, and standards; ensure technical excellence across platforms, services, and integrations.
- Establish and monitor engineering metrics (velocity, quality, reliability, MTTR, SRE practices) to drive data-driven decisions and improvements.
- Ensure robust software delivery processes, including CI/CD, testing strategies, release management, and incident response.
- Drive talent strategy: recruiting, onboarding, performance management, career development, and succession planning for engineering leaders and individual contributors.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, and Operations to deliver high-impact features with a focus on user value and risk mitigation.
- Manage budget, vendor relationships, and technology choices, balancing delivery speed with architectural integrity and risk management.
- Promote a culture of quality, security, accessibility, and compliance across all engineering initiatives.
- Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to executives and stakeholders in a transparent and actionable manner.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of progressively responsible leadership roles.
- 5+ years of experience leading multiple engineering teams or a large, distributed engineering organization.
- Strong hands-on background in modern software architectures, cloud platforms, microservices, and scalable backend systems.
- Proven ability to deliver complex products end-to-end in fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated success in building and mentoring high-performance teams, fostering inclusive and collaborative cultures.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience with DevOps, SRE practices, software security, and compliance considerations.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
