Job Title: Head of Lease-to-Own
Location: Doha, Qatar (relocation supported; GCC mobility required)
Reporting to: Digital / Consumer Business Leader (with close alignment to Group CEO, CFO and Risk)
Role Overview
Our client is one of MENA's largest insurance groups, with a rapidly expanding suite of digital, consumer-facing offerings delivered through its applications and platforms.
As part of a broader strategy to monetise engagement and build high-value adjacencies beyond core insurance, the organisation is scaling a digital automotive marketplace and launching a fully integrated lease-to-own proposition.
The ambition is to transform an existing second-hand car marketplace into a scalable, profitable consumer finance engine, embedded directly within a multi-million-user digital ecosystem. This role owns the end-to-end build: from product and pricing design, to credit, funding partnerships and operational scale.
The Head of Lease-to-Own will act as the single accountable owner for this new business line, combining deep financial acumen with a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Proposition
- Define the end-to-end lease-to-own strategy, including target segments, product structures and growth roadmap.
- Design customer propositions that clearly outperform traditional bank and auto-lender offerings on convenience, flexibility and experience.
- Build and own the multi-year business case, including P&L, capital requirements, payback and return metrics.
Pricing, Credit & Risk
- Design and continuously refine pricing models (lease rates, residual values, balloon payments, fees).
- Develop credit decisioning frameworks using bureau data and internal signals, tailored to GCC market dynamics.
- Partner closely with Risk, Actuarial and Finance to define risk appetite, provisioning and stress testing.
- Optimise portfolio performance using live data on losses, utilisation, early settlements and asset resale values.
Banking & Funding Partnerships
- Structure and negotiate funding partnerships with local and regional banks and financiers.
- Design co-lending or off-balance-sheet structures, including economics, risk-sharing and operational flows.
- Engage with regulators across Qatar and the wider GCC to ensure compliance and anticipate regulatory change.
Product, Digital & Operations
- Translate the proposition into a fully digital, end-to-end journey across app and web (application, credit check, approval, documentation, servicing).
- Work with Product, Technology and UX teams to minimise friction and enable fast approvals where possible.
- Define and optimise operational processes including KYC, underwriting, collections, repossession and asset resale.
- Lead the scale-up from an initial subset of vehicles to a significantly larger portfolio.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the single owner for the lease-to-own business, reporting regularly to senior leadership on performance and risk.
- Coordinate across digital, finance, legal, actuarial, operations and country teams.
- Define the future operating model and build a lean, high-impact team as the business scales.
Person Specification
Experience
- 1015+ years in consumer finance, auto finance, leasing or instalment products.
- Background in auto leasing, lease-to-own, consumer lending or BNPL strongly preferred.
- Proven experience building or scaling an asset-backed consumer finance portfolio.
- Demonstrable experience operating in GCC markets, including interaction with local regulators.
- Exposure to digital or marketplace-based lending models is highly desirable.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong financial and commercial acumen; comfortable owning P&Ls and capital decisions.
- Deep understanding of credit underwriting, portfolio risk and collections in retail finance.
- Highly analytical, with the ability to build and interrogate pricing and risk models.
- Able to translate complex financial logic into scalable digital products.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
Style & Mindset
- Strategic yet highly hands-on in the build phase.
- Entrepreneurial, comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch.
- Globally minded, culturally agile and willing to be based in Qatar.
