Job Description

Job Purpose

Manage, control and monitor the work of a group of Paralegals/Legal Executives/

Clerks in providing legal expertise to enable the organization to operate

effectively.

Responsibilities

Legal

Take responsibility for providing specific elements of the organization's legal

service with guidance from senior colleagues.

Data Management

Manage basic aspects of the data management system with guidance from

senior colleagues. This includes being responsible for developing or operating

basic elements of the data management systems to deliver prescribed

outcomes.

Internal Client Relationship Management

Contribute to the management of partnering relationships with internal clients,

building effective working relationships and providing high-quality professional

services to support in delivering business strategy and plans.

Data Collection and Analysis

Collate and analyze data using pre-set tools, methods and formats. Involves

working independently.

Document Preparation

Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for

technology devices such as standard office software. Also responsible for

gathering and summarizing data for special reports.

Performance Management

Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to

improve personal performance. OR Monitor the performance of the team;

allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to

ensure timeliness and quality; contribute to formal individual performance

management and appraisal.

Leadership and Direction

  • Explain the local action plan to support team members in their understanding of
  • what needs to be done, and how this relates to the broader business plan and
  • the organization's strategy, mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local
  • business goals.

Strategic & Governance

  • Maintain a legal risk register and mitigation plans
  • Lead development and updates of legal policies and procedures
  • Establish a legal charter and decision matrix

Performance & Reporting

  • Consolidate legal KPIs and dashboards (e.g. case closure rate, review time)
  • Submit high-level legal reports to EXCOM or CEO

Contracting Standards

  • Approve contract templates and standard clauses
  • Create fallback clause library and contract playbooks
  • Ensure contracts are compliant.

Regulatory & Legal Advisory

  • Lead regulatory updates and impact assessment
  • Handle complex legal topics (e.g. mergers, competition law, tax disputes)
  • Advise on high-risk legal matters across functions

IP & Trademark Oversight

  • Oversee the full trademark lifecycle: registration, renewal, dispute handling
  • Supervise coordination with external IP agencies (e.g. Bainat)
  • Ensure trademark documentation and archiving are compliant and up to date, including rising cases against other brands using our identies
