To maintain a competitive advantage as we grow, we are currently looking for a new Head of Procurement

Job purpose:

The Group Head of Procurement is a critical role within our Operational Excellence function, responsible for overseeing all procurement activities and ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. Reporting to the Group Chief Operational Excellence Officer, this position is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency and financial health of Geidea. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, particularly within fintech or technology solutions environments, and will drive procurement strategies that support our business objectives. Without this role, our business risks increased costs, supply chain disruptions, and operational inefficiencies, which could negatively impact our growth and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with Geidea's business objectives for all business lines.
  • Manage the procurement budget, ensuring optimal allocation between direct and indirect procurement activities.
  • Direct Procurement: Oversee the timely acquisition of goods and services that are directly related to Geidea's core business operations, such as payment terminal devices, electronic cashier registers, software system solutions, and fintech-related products and services
  • Indirect Procurement: Manage the procurement of goods and services that support business operations but are not directly tied to core business activities, such as office supplies, marketing services, IT infrastructure, outsourced employees and third-party consultants.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers to secure the best value for money and compliance with company policies.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, including monitoring and reporting of IT vendors SLA performance
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers/vendors, exclusive partners and stakeholders.
  • Monitor market trends and provide insights to inform procurement decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in all current and future markets.
  • Implement and manage procurement systems/tools and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Set up, enhance and mature all procurement processes, to be more efficient, data-driven and keeping up with the pace of business.
  • Lead the implementation and enhancement of procurement-related systems, supporting the automation of procurement processes.
  • Develop and enforce appropriate governance, reporting and controls around Procurement to find and fix the gaps and bottlenecks in related processes
  • Maintain regular performance reporting of procurement-related processes and activities to senior management
  • Support the negotiation and preparation of standard legal documents including, but not limited to master agreements, contract attachments, extensions and non-disclosure agreements
  • Define and implement the strategy of the Procurement function, including leading and maturing the Procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and control functions (such as cybersecurity, risk management, and BCM) to support the timely coordination of technical assessments for technology procurements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, IT Vendor Management, Finance, and senior leadership, to understand business goals and translate them into actionable procurement plans.
  • Must have good understanding of various central banks regulations related to Procurement (strongly preferred to have knowledge of SAMA regulations related to Procurement)

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, including 5+ years of experience leading people
  • Fintech, banking, insurance, telecom, technology or similar environments experience is preferred
  • CIPS certificate or a procurement/supply chain certificate is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Procurement spend/budget experience preferred to be at least 100M USD per annum
  • Strong understanding of procurement practices and regulations in MENA region, preferably with previous work experience in Saudi Arabia too.
  • Functional Knowledge:
  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills. Innovative sourcing techniques and contract negotiation are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. A keen eye for detail and a process-mindset is required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Demonstration of technical background is a plus, to understand and develop requirements for enhancing procurement-related modules of ERP (Procure-to-Pay process and solutions)
  • Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Mostly office job but may require travel to regional offices from time to time
