ABOUT THE ROLE / ROLE OVERVIEW

The Head of Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the overall procurement and sourcing strategy to support manufacturing, engineering, and commercial objectives within the automotive business. This role ensures cost competitiveness, supply continuity, quality compliance, and supplier innovation across direct and indirect categories, aligned with industry standards.

The position leads strategic supplier relationships globally, drives cost optimization initiatives, and ensures procurement processes support production efficiency, new product launches, and long-term business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall procurement strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Lead sourcing of direct materials related to automotive industry and indirect spend (services, logistics, MRO).
  • Drive cost optimization and long-term value across all spend categories.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with strategic suppliers to secure favorable commercial terms and reliable supply.
  • Establish clear supplier performance standards covering quality, cost, delivery, and service.
  • Build strong supplier partnerships while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives through effective negotiations and market benchmarking.
  • Monitor market trends, commodity movements, and supply risks to protect business continuity.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply disruptions and ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Sales to align procurement with production and demand plans.
  • Support new product launches by ensuring timely sourcing and supplier readiness.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Align procurement strategy with production planning and sales forecasts.

Requirements

Education / Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 1012 years of procurement experience within automotive manufacturing.
  • At least 3 years in senior procurement leadership.
  • Relevant certifications are a plus.
