Job Description

Main Duties

Inventory Management:

-Oversee the management of inventory, including receiving, storage, issuance, and tracking of goods.

-Develop and implement inventory control procedures and policies.

-Ensure accurate recording of stock transactions, including receipts, transfers, and disposals.

-Monitor stock levels and collaborate with procurement to maintain optimal inventory levels to support operations.

Supervision and Team Management:

-Lead and supervise a team of storekeepers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

-Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring smooth operations and workload distribution.

-Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and adherence to company policies.

-Conduct regular performance evaluations and support professional development opportunities for team members.

Storekeeping Operations:

-Oversee the receipt, inspection, and verification of incoming goods.

-Ensure proper storage and organization of inventory, utilizing appropriate shelving systems, labeling, and categorization.

-Coordinate with other departments to fulfill internal requisitions and ensure timely and accurate issuance of goods.

-Implement and enforce security measures to prevent theft, damage, or loss of inventory.

Inventory Control and Reporting:

-Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and reconcile any discrepancies.

-Generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and any issues or concerns related to inventory control.

-Analyze inventory data to identify trends, slow-moving items, or excess stock and make recommendations for improvement.

-Collaborate with finance or accounting departments for accurate valuation and reporting of inventory.

Process Improvement:

-Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvement within the storekeeping function.

-Propose and implement enhancements to storekeeping procedures, systems, and workflows.

-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance overall inventory management.

Health and Safety Compliance:

-Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies within the warehouse or storage area.

-Promote a safe working environment, identifying and mitigating potential hazards or safety risks.

-Train and educate storekeepers on proper handling techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

Vendor and Supplier Management:

-Collaborate with procurement and vendor management teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.

-Communicate with suppliers regarding quality issues, damaged goods, or discrepancies in shipments.

-Maintain effective relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms and conditions when necessary.

  • Comply to all work-related instructions as it may arise.
