Reporting to: Health Safety Engineer Manager
Role:
Develops and implements hazard control designs, methods, procedures and safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions for protection of people, property and environment utilizing knowledge in industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, industrial health and safety laws
Accountabilities:
1. Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine all safety pre-cautions that's required as per company policy.
2. Monitors plant and employee accommodation facilities to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
3. Conducts / coordinates safety and first aid training to educate workers about safety policies, laws and practices.
4. Implements, administers and advise others on hazard control programs and determines requirement for safety clothing and devices, builds and installs or directs installation of safety devices on machinery.
5. Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence ad prepares accident reports.
6. Forecasts future safety plans and statement based on real-time experiences and facts to ensure minimize incidents.
7. Conducts air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapors as per law.
Role Specification
Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's):
- Engineering degree preferably in Mechanical and Industrial field.
- Nebosh certification preferred but not essential
- Possess education, training and professional experience industrial hygiene & toxicology, engineering hazard controls, fire protection, ergonomics, accident investigation, process safety and, construction safety.
- A minimum of (5) years of experience
