Job Description

Connexa Recruitment are working in partnership with an award-winning International Architectural Design practice who are looking for an HSE Engineer on a prestigious building projects in Riyadh, KSA.

Job Overview:

The HSE Engineer ensures that all health, safety, and environmental aspects of the company's building projects are fully addressed and in compliance with local regulations, client requirements, and international best practices. The role involves guiding project teams during design and construction phases to proactively eliminate risks, ensuring safe delivery of architectural and engineering works.

Key Responsibilities:

HSE Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement HSE plans, policies, and procedures tailored to building projects.
  • Provide input on HSE risks during project planning, design reviews, and construction phases.
  • Integrate HSE objectives into architectural and engineering processes.

Risk Assessment & Compliance

  • Conduct project-specific risk assessments and hazard identification.
  • Ensure compliance with local HSE regulations, building codes, and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OSHA).
  • Evaluate design drawings for safety-related concerns (e.g., fire exits, accessibility, material handling).

Site Safety Management

  • Monitor HSE performance on construction sites through inspections and audits.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Investigate incidents, root causes, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.

Training & Development

  • Lead HSE training, induction, and toolbox talks for project teams and contractors.
  • Promote a safety-first culture within architectural and engineering teams.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit HSE reports, KPIs, and non-conformance records.
  • Maintain HSE documentation including permits, MSDS, inspection reports, and incident logs.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and consultants on all HSE matters.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and risk review sessions.

Requirements:

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certifications are a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of HSE experience, with at least 8 years in building construction projects.
  • Prior experience in an architectural or engineering consultancy environment preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and building safety codes.
  • Familiarity with design safety and construction site practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HSE software/tools.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Team player with the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Understanding of sustainability and environmental impact assessments is advantageous.
