Al Marwan General Contracting Company (MGCC) is the first subsidiary of Al Marwan Group, with over thirty years of successful operational history behind it. Main Function
Coordinate, support, and advise the Business on all aspects with regard to Health and Safety. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety within MGCC/SGCC are adhered to.
Role responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
- Provide technical advice and coordination in line with the project OHS Plan, legislation and standards into workgroups as required/directed.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of project ERP (Emergency Response Plan).
- Delivery of project safety induction and other identified safety training.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
- Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
- Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
- Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
- Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
- Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
- Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
- Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
- Assist in Managing the agenda for the Health & Safety Committee meetings. Ensure that all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
- Participate in weekly/monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters.
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Safety Officer Minimum requirement
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, construction, occupational safety and health, or related field
- NEBOSH International General Certificate
- OSHAD Registered if Abu Dhabi based
- Three (3) to five (5) years previous experience in comprehensive workplace safety and compliance programs within UAE and in relevant industries : Heavy Machinery /Constructions
- Solid knowledge of the local legislation and guideline changes
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
