HSE Officer

Job Purpose

The HSE Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring health, safety, and environmental standards across project sites, ensuring compliance with UAE regulations, project requirements, and company policies. The role will support project teams in identifying risks, maintaining safe working conditions, conducting inspections and audits, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout all project phases

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor BG Group HSE policies, procedures and site safety requirements in accordance with applicable UAE HSE laws, Dubai Municipality and relevant authority regulations including Trakhees and DDA, where applicable.
•  Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and toolbox talks, identify unsafe acts/conditions, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed within the required timeframe.
• Prepare, review and monitor Risk Assessments, Method Statements, JSA/JHA and RAMS for construction activities and ensure workers follow approved safe working procedures.
• Monitor high-risk activities including work at height, lifting operations, scaffolding, excavation, hot work, electrical work, confined spaces and site traffic, ensuring appropriate control measures and PPE are in place.
• Ensure effective Permit-to-Work, PPE, housekeeping, access/egress, fire safety and emergency preparedness requirements are maintained across the site.
•  Investigate and report accidents, incidents and near misses, identify root causes, recommend preventive measures and maintain accurate HSE records and documentation.
• Monitor subcontractor and worker compliance with HSE requirements and coordinate with Site Engineers, Supervisors, Project Managers and subcontractors to resolve safety issues promptly.
• Support and implement emergency response procedures, evacuation plans, fire drills and safety awareness programs, ensuring workers receive appropriate HSE induction and training.
•  Monitor environmental controls including construction waste, dust, noise, chemical storage, spill prevention and proper waste disposal, in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly HSE reports and KPI updates, track observations and corrective actions, and promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement across BG Group projects.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience, preferably in UAE construction, Design & Build, Fit-Out or Luxury Villa projects.
•  Strong knowledge of UAE HSE regulations and construction safety practices.
• Knowledge of Dubai authority requirements is Required
• NEBOSH / IOSH or equivalent HSE certification is highly preferred.
• Strong communication, reporting and problem-solving skills.
•  Good knowledge of MS Office and HSE documentation.
• Valid UAE Driving Licence and own vehicle is mandatory.
