Job Title: Individual Assistant

Key Duties And Responsibilities
Provide support for an individual pupil, within a group context or individually, both inside and outside of the classroom to enable the pupil to fully participate in a range of activities during the school day.
- To be proactive in matters relating to health and safety, including awareness and understanding of any medical care plan, risk assessment and/or personal emergency evacuation plan relating to the pupil.
- Support the pupil in relation to their individual needs whether logistical, physical, emotional, behavioural, social or communication. This could include intimate care where the pupil requires such support.
- Promote the child's independence when working in class, in a group, in developing their friendships and managing their belongings and daily routine.
- Support the aims of the school, comply with the requirements of health and safety, code of conduct and other relevant legislation and school policies.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
- Attend training sessions and professional meetings, as required.
- Work with other professionals as needed, e.g. Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
- Build a close working relationship with the class teacher and communicate regularly and openly.
