What is the CAKE program

CAKE is a carefully crafted initiative by Noon that aims to recruit and nurture talented fresh graduates from the region and train them to become experts in GCC's e-commerce industry, with a focus on security engineering. It consists of a 10-week intensive training program that equips new joiners with the technical, security, and domain knowledge to become productive members of Noon's engineering ecosystem. Through end-to-end training projects, technical tutorials, system design sessions, security workshops, weekly Q/As with the CTO, and calls with members of Noon's different verticals, new joiners will learn about Noon from many angles and will eventually onboard into specialized teams. The program also includes mentorship to help joiners as they progress in their career.

Responsibilities:

As an Information Security Engineer with a strong software focus at noon, you will be part of a fast-paced and multi-disciplinary team of security engineers and professionals. Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing secure back-end logic for web and mobile applications, as well as working with product and software engineering teams for secure integration
• Performing threat modeling for new products and features to ensure secure design from inception
• Designing and implementing secure data modeling solutions using relational databases
• Building high-quality, reusable, and scalable code with test suites that can scale to millions of users across the region, while maintaining robust security measures
• Working with internal and external stakeholders to brainstorm new secure solutions, debug and enhance existing ones, and contribute ideas to the technologies and products
• Continually updating your technical, security, and domain knowledge by attending in-house and external courses

Qualifications & Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Security, or a related field
• A passion for solving security and software problems demonstrated through internships, personal projects, hackathons, or CTF competitions
• Solid knowledge of algorithms, data structures, system design, RESTful APIs, HTTP, and common security protocols
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and common attack vectors
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to work collaboratively, especially in explaining security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with all phases of the secure software development life cycle: ideation, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Knowledge and experience working with MySQL and server-side Python, with a focus on secure coding practices
• Knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps: continuous integration and deployment, Docker, Kubernetes, and security automation
