Job Purpose:
To Lead the management of all IT infrastructure with in HBKU's distributed datacentres ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security. This includes overseeing datacentre space, cooling, power and access, while proactively planning for scalability and future growth
Key Result Areas:
- Monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex network and computer system issues
- Manage and administer all datacentre servers, storage, backup. networks, infrastructure applications
- Maintain internal network structure of a data center by coordinating with network and security team
- Troubleshoot network systems to identify and fix performance issues
- Provide solutions to complex problems on the integration of various technologies
- Design plans as well as lead initiatives for the optimization and restructuring of network architecture
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of network administration and firmware integration
- Monitor the environmental conditions of a data center to ensure they are optimum for servers, routers, and other devices
- Perform system repairs and update software/operating systems
- Calibrate and monitor data center servers to ensure efficient performance
- Collaborate with IT handlers, sales, and data center managers to develop action plan for improved operations
- Conduct inspections on power and cooling systems to ensure they are operational and efficient
- Organize the floor space that harbor data center equipment to allow for easy accessibility
- Resolve operational, infrastructure or hardware incidents in a data center.
- Maintain track of power, cooling and space consumption
- Attend and resolve any alerts issued by DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management). system on priority basis
- Maintain the Data Centre always clean at all time and Review DC Access logs on weekly basis
- Ensure proper labelling for cabling, equipment, rack and zone
- Update all policies and procedures relevant to Datacentre
- Participate in testing, and supervise racking and stacking
- Mentor, coach, train and guide other colleagues to deliver quality datacentre service
- Create job tickets and agree the implementation stage with the Planning and Logistic specialist
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technology related field from an Accredited College
- 6--8 years of experience in a relevant field preferably in an academic and research application development set up.
- Experience in installing, configuring, fine tuning, managing and monitoring Dell Servers and Storage, Arista for Network switches, and Sunbird for DCIM
- Expertise in developing, implementing and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity operations for the datacentre to Cloud
- Experience with VmWare Openstack, or equivalent
- Cloud Management tools experience is a plus
- Experience with system design concepts
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
