Job Description

Instrument Technician

Location: Qatar

Contract: 3-5 years

Vacancies: 2 positions

Primary Purpose Of The Job

  • Participate in construction completion checks, walkthroughs, pre-commissioning, commissioning, PSSR, start-up activities, site acceptance tests, and performance tests as directed by the Lead/Senior Commissioning Engineer and respective discipline engineers.
  • Monitor project scope during normal operations until one month after successful performance testing.
  • Support the Lead/Senior Commissioning Engineer in completing Operations Readiness deliverables prior to operational handover.
  • Coordinate with discipline engineers to ensure technical and project requirements are met from construction through normal operations.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Perform construction completion checks, walkthroughs, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, instrument loop checks, functional checks, purging, inerting, hydro tests, safety checks, site acceptance tests, and performance tests.
  • Coordinate with discipline engineers to ensure technical and project scope compliance.
  • Conduct punch listing walkthroughs for construction and pre-commissioning systems/sub-systems.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams during commissioning through performance testing.
  • Witness commissioning activities for systems/equipment SATs.
  • Participate in PSSR reviews and walkthroughs.
  • Ensure all punch items are completed and closed prior to start-up certification.
  • Verify completeness of PSSR, RFSU, and operational handover checklists for certificate issuance.
  • Confirm Operations Readiness deliverables as per the readiness register.
  • Assist in plant start-up after RFSU certification.
  • Support site acceptance tests and stabilization after start-up.
  • Assist in plant performance testing post-handover.
  • Ensure all outstanding items are closed prior to final handover certification.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Completion of secondary education (12 years) plus 3 years of technical training.
  • Minimum 8 years of commissioning experience in oil & gas processing and production facilities (onshore/offshore), preferably with EPC contractors.
  • Experience in operations, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and handover activities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Technical knowledge with multi-discipline exposure, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in IT and analytical skills; ability to work under pressure
