The Internal Audit Manager supports the establishment and enhancement of a risk-based Internal Audit function in line with the IIA IPPF. The role leads enterprise-wide risk assessments and internal audit and advisory engagements, evaluates internal control frameworks, and delivers clear, value-added recommendations to management. The position also manages and mentors the audit team, ensures compliance with internal audit standards, and oversees follow-up on agreed management action plans to strengthen governance and control processes.
Responsibilities
- Support the establishment of the Internal Audit function in line with the IIA IPPF, including internal audit policies, methodologies, templates, and reporting structures.
- Perform and oversee enterprise-wide and process-level risk assessments, including the development and maintenance of internal audit risk registers.
- Participate in and contribute to the development of the risk-based Internal Audit Plan, aligned with organizational objectives and emerging risks.
- Develop and maintain audit programs and procedures to support effective and consistent audit execution.
- Lead and oversee internal audit and advisory engagements across key business processes, covering planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up activities.
- Design, assess, and evaluate internal control frameworks for newly implemented or evolving processes.
- Supervise day-to-day audit activities during planning and fieldwork to ensure adequate coverage, quality, and timely execution.
- Review audit working papers and draft audit reports to ensure compliance with internal audit standards and methodology.
- Identify control gaps, key risks, and improvement opportunities, and ensure clear, practical, and value-added recommendations are developed.
- Communicate audit results, key risks, and recommendations to management and relevant business owners.
- Prepare audit reports and management presentations summarizing key findings, risks, and agreed management action plans.
- Oversee the follow-up process and maintain remediation trackers to ensure timely implementation and closure of audit recommendations.
- Manage, supervise, and mentor the internal audit team, fostering a high-performance, quality-focused audit culture.
Requirements
- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Min. 7 years of relevant internal and/or external audit experience.
- Experience supporting or establishing an Internal Audit function is a strong advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of the IIA IPPF, risk-based auditing, and internal control frameworks.
- Professional certification is a plus: CIA, CISA (completed or in progress).
- Experience in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology sector with a strong focus on Finance and Audit Standards is preferred.
