Purpose
To maintain and optimize irrigation networks, water storage systems, and pumping stations, ensuring efficient water distribution and system functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings and plan layouts for irrigation networks.
- Cut, assemble, and install pipes and drip irrigation systems while ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure (e.g., electrical wiring).
- Diagnose and repair issues in drip irrigation systems, including leak detection and maintenance at experimental sites.
- Install, test, and maintain water pumps.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance of water storage tanks (ZincAlum, GRP, and plastic tanks).
- Conduct flushing and cleaning of irrigation pipelines to ensure system efficiency.
- Monitor and record flowmeter readings for performance tracking and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in plumbing or irrigation systems.
- Strong understanding of automatic irrigation systems and their operation.
- Proficiency in using plumbing tools and equipment (e.g., pipe wrenches, cutters, plungers).
- Good physical fitness with the ability to work in challenging weather conditions.
- Solid background in agronomy, particularly soilwaterplant relationships and their impact on soil salinity and crop performance.
- Knowledge of soil and water salinity interactions.
- Ability to calculate crop water requirements using standard methods.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills (Optional Enhancement)
- Experience working on agricultural or experimental irrigation sites.
- Basic troubleshooting of electrical components related to irrigation systems.
- Familiarity with irrigation monitoring and automation technologies.
