Job Description
Act as the central hub for managing IT projects and programmes, ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic objectives. Standardise how risks and issues are identified, escalated, and resolved, while providing governance and oversight of risk mitigation plans. Support capability building by developing project management competencies across IT staff and providing the necessary tools, training, and guidance to project managers.
IT PMO Responsibilities
- Oversee selection, prioritisation, and tracking of IT projects.
- Ensure alignment with strategic goals and available resources.
- Project Methodology & Standards
- Define and enforce project management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Develop templates, processes, and best practices for consistency.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track project progress, KPIs, budgets, and risks.
- Provide regular dashboards and reports to stakeholders and executives.
- Resource & Capacity Management
- Manage allocation of IT resources across projects.
- Identify bottlenecks and optimise utilisation.
- Risk & Issue Management
- Standardise how risks and issues are identified, escalated, and resolved. Provide governance on risk mitigation plans.
- Training & Support
- Build project management competencies across IT staff.
- Provide tools and guidance to project managers.
IT Governance Responsibilities
- Ensure IT processes, policies, and controls align with business objectives while managing risks and compliance.
- Strategy Alignment
- Ensure IT initiatives support business strategy and objectives.
- Define governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT, ITIL, and ISO standards).
- Policy & Compliance Management
- Establish IT policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, NIST, SOX).
- Risk & Security Oversight
- Monitor IT risks, cybersecurity controls, and data protection.
- Oversee audits and enforce corrective actions.
- Decision-Making Frameworks
- Provide structures for IT investment decisions.
- Define approval gates and escalation paths.
- Performance & Value Delivery
- Measure the IT Department's contribution to business value.
- Use KPIs, SLAs, and balanced scorecards to monitor IT performance.
- Stakeholder & Communication Management
- Bridge business and IT leadership.
- Communicate IT governance decisions, standards, and compliance status.
Personal / Technical Skills
- BSc Computer Science/Computer engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience
