POSITION SUMMARY
As a Junior Compliance Officer, you will support the Compliance and MLRO function in ensuring adherence to DFSA regulatory requirements, with a particular focus on AML, sanctions, and financial crime prevention. The role requires a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a controlled and high-compliance environment.
Your responsibilities include:
Regulatory Compliance & Monitoring:
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of compliance frameworks in line with DFSA regulations. Monitoring internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory adherence.
AML & Sanctions Oversight:
- Conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, and ongoing monitoring. Identifying and escalating potential financial crime risks, including suspicious activity.
Risk Assessment:
- Conducting and regularly updating enterprise-wide and client-specific AML/CFT risk assessments.
Policy & Procedure Management:
- Supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls.
Regulatory Reporting, Documentation & Liaison:
- Maintaining accurate compliance records and supporting regulatory reporting obligations, including familiarity with goAML reporting where applicable. Acting as a point of contact for the UAE FIU, DFSA and other relevant authorities on AML/CFT matters.
Reporting & Governance:
- Preparing regular reports (quarterly/semi-annual) for senior management on AML program effectiveness, key risks, deficiencies, and remediation plan.
Training & Advisory:
- Delivering AML/CFT training to staff & management, while providing day-to-day compliance support to internal stakeholders.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant compliance experience, specifically within DFSA-regulated environments (AML, sanctions, financial crime).
- Candidates with ADGM experience may also be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, Compliance, or a related field.
- Legal qualifications or experience are an advantage.
- AML/CFT certifications (CAMS, ICA, or equivalent) are desirable.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong understanding of DFSA regulatory framework, UAE AML/CFT laws, FATF standards.
- Familiarity with transaction monitoring tools, KYC/CDD processes, sanctions screening, and goAML reporting.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and reporting skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational capabilities.
- Ability to identify, assess, and escalate compliance risks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal stakeholders and regulators.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy, integrity, and accountability.
