Position: L1 Network Engineer (Cisco)

Role Summary
The L1 Network Engineer will be responsible for implementation, configuration, and first-line support of Cisco network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance of enterprise networks under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and wireless devices as per project designs.
- Perform L1 support: monitor network health, respond to alerts, and resolve standard/low-complexity incidents within SLA.
- Assist in rollout and migration activities for Cisco network solutions (VLANs, routing, ACLs, QoS, VPN etc.).
- Escalate complex issues to L2/L3, providing clear diagnostics, logs, and incident documentation.
- Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines.
- Support change implementation activities during maintenance windows, following change management procedures.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely closure of network issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related field.
- 34 years hands-on experience in implementing and supporting Cisco-based enterprise networks (routing, switching, WLAN).
- CCNP (Enterprise/Service Provider or equivalent) **must** be valid and current.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLAN, STP, OSPF/EIGRP, NAT, ACLs, DHCP, DNS.
- Experience with Cisco IOS/IOS-XE configuration and basic troubleshooting (show/debug commands).
- Exposure to network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios or similar).
- Good communication and documentation skills, able to interact with end users and senior engineers.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of basic network security (firewalls, VPN, IPS).
- Familiarity with ITIL-based incident and change management processes.
- Experience in working in 24x7 NOC/operations environment and shift-based support.
