Job Description

Candidate Profile

  • Relevant university degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business; a master's degree is an advantage.
  • Relevant professional qualifications are preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years at managerial level within credit.
  • Strong experience assessing large corporate borrowers across multiple industries.
  • Proven capability in financial statement analysis, credit assessment and portfolio risk monitoring.
  • Good understanding of credit-related laws, regulatory requirements and banking credit policies.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS 9, expected credit losses and credit staging.
  • Experience with Moody's Risk Analytics or comparable credit analysis platforms; credit scoring system experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and computer skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Sound commercial judgment and the ability to make clear, well-supported credit recommendations.
  • Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management and team development skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality assessments under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Review new, annual and interim credit proposals for large corporate clients across diverse industries, recommending approval or rejection based on comprehensive risk assessment.
  • Analyse financial statements, repayment capacity, industry outlook and borrower risk to assess creditworthiness.
  • Prepare clear credit assessments, presentations and recommendations, escalating proposals for approval in accordance with delegated authority.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies, regulatory requirements, internal procedures and agreed turnaround times.
  • Identify emerging risks and work with Relationship Managers to obtain clarification and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, including sector and borrower concentrations, non-performing loans and other key risk indicators.
  • Assess expected credit losses and staging considerations under IFRS 9.
  • Prepare facility approval letters and related communications to business teams.
  • Support internal credit ratings, financial spreading and analysis using Moody's Risk Analytics (MRA).
  • Contribute to enhancements in credit systems, risk models and portfolio reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with Business and Risk Management teams to improve credit processes and analytical capabilities.
  • Guide and mentor team members, including UAE national employees, and oversee credit-related projects and special assignments.

Our client is an established bank in the UAE seeking a Lead – Corporate Credit to evaluate complex corporate credit proposals, oversee portfolio risk and support sound lending decisions. Reporting to the Unit Head – Corporate Credit, the role combines credit assessment, portfolio monitoring, process improvement and team development.
