Job Summary
We are looking for a Linux Patching Engineer responsible for managing and applying patches across Linux-based systems to ensure security, stability, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Linux administration, patch management processes, and automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end patching of Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE)
- Plan, schedule, and execute patching activities with minimal business disruption
- Apply security patches, bug fixes, and kernel updates across environments
- Monitor and remediate system vulnerabilities and ensure timely patch compliance
- Perform patch testing and validation in staging environments before production rollout
- Maintain patching documentation, reports, and audit logs
- Work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams during patch cycles
- Troubleshoot issues arising from patch deployments and perform rollbacks if required
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external security standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Linux system administration or patch management
- Strong knowledge of Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE)
- Experience with patching and automation tools such as Ansible, Red Hat Satellite, or SUSE Manager
- Familiarity with vulnerability management and security best practices
- Experience with shell scripting (Bash) for automation
- Understanding of system logs, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Basic knowledge of networking concepts and server infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise or cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, change, and release management)
- Relevant certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE or equivalent
