To provide DCS and operational input during the Operations Readiness phase of the Cap Lopez FLNG Project; assist in competency development and preparation of the LNG Production Operations shift team for commissioning, start-up and steady state operations.Post handover, the role will transition to the operation of the FLNG DCS with a strong focus on training and mentoring of LNG Production Field Technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Readiness (Dubai)
- Perform skilled DCS Production Operations during commissioning & start-up activities and interface effectively with the EPC contractor to ensure safe & effective operations
- Support Production Leadership in building a competent operations team through competency development (e.g. training, skills assessment,)
- Participate in the creation & development of training materials, and DCS commissioning and start-up procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
- Participate in the implementation and application of Control of Work (work Management) systems
- Support the integration of LNG Production Operations team within the Cap Lopez terminal.
Operational Phase (Cap Lopez Rotational)
- Leading the DCS operation of the LNG train to ensure maximum production
- Guiding the LNG Production field technicians during day-to-day shift operation
- Skilled operation of the day-to-day FLNG plant DCS operations, to ensure stable production
- Support the training, and competency development of production personnel on the DCS
- Support safe operations culture and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards
- Administer the company's Control of Work, Isolation and Return to Service, Risk management, HAZOPS, Permit-to-Work and Safe Work Practice systems
- Support the implementation and review of Production Operations, Emergency management and Process Safety Management procedures and protocols
- Create, develop and review DCS operations startup, normal shutdown and emergency shutdown procedures
- Lead DCS equipment monitoring and control
- Lead the operations of Rockwell Basic Process Control System (DCS)
- Review DCS Start-up and Commissioning procedures
- Responding to major emergencies on the plant, possibly as the control room supervisor
Leadership & QHSE
- Oversight of daily DCS based operations schedules, maintenance works and competency development activity
- Acti as a safety leader and control room supervisor (during ER) as required
- Ensure strict compliance with QHSE standards and foster strong safety culture.
Required Profile
Qualifications
- Process Plant Operations, technicians level diploma or equivalent
- Recognized certifications in LNG, process operations, or safety systems.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in LNG facilities
- 3+ years in the DCS technician role on an LNG Facility
- Demonstrated ability to create DCS operations procedures and energy Isolation and LOTO plans
- Competency in conducting DCS Production Operating training and assessment. Operations Trainer or Assessor or OTS trainer or CoW/CMAS Isolation certification would be an advantage.
Core Competencies
- Strong knowledge of LNG processes (AGRU, refrigeration, fractionation, BOG)
- Ability to lead during dynamic and emergency plant conditions
- Strong leadership, communication, and multicultural awareness
- English (CEFR B2 minimum); French advantageous.
Location
- Dubai-based during Operations Readiness Phase phase (with travel to Gabon)
- 5 weeks on / 5 weeks off rotation during Commissioning and Operational Phase.
