The logistics-Freight Manager is responsible for overseeing all freight and logistics operations, with a strong focus on international shipping and customs clearance within GCC. This role ensures efficient, cost-effective, and movement of goods across borders while maintaining high service standards.
About the Role
This role is crucial in managing logistics operations and ensuring compliance with customs regulations while optimizing costs and improving service levels.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all logistic operations and provide best practice to ensure optimum efficiency.
- Review delivery and transportation quality and costs, Run Freight Tender (RFQ) and negotiating where possible.
- Identify improvements within the logistics process to remove waste and any unnecessary costs.
- Manage end-to-end international shipping operations (air, sea, land freight & Multimodal).
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and logistics partners with SOP and regular review.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and import/export laws.
- Handle customs clearance processes, documentation, and duty calculations.
- Liaise with customs brokers and government authorities to resolve clearance issues.
- Optimize freight costs, transit times, and service levels.
- Monitor shipment tracking and ensure timely delivery and proper maintaining of shipment data.
- Maintain accurate shipping and customs documentation (invoices, packing lists, HS codes, etc.)
- Develop and implement freight strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Negotiate service agreements and price with the freight forwarders.
- Provide routine and ad hoc KPIs/Reports to management.
- Support retail supply chain projects and ad hoc assignments.
- Ensure the execution with feedback for improving operation efficiency.
- Oversee the entire process of a shipment, from acquisition to delivery.
- Create department policies and Procedures.
- Train and guide employees on department processes.
- Monitor and control Freight/logistics costs, with a strong focus on reducing landed costs.
- Track and report on key metrics including on-time delivery and shipment performance.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising service levels.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics/ Freight or equivalent
Required Skills
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in freight management (RFQ-Pricing) with leading Freight forwarders in the region is a Must.
- In-depth experience in international shipping (Air, Road, sea (FCL & LCL) freight & Multi Modal with strong Negotiation skill is a Must.
- Strong leadership, time management, interpersonal & organizational skills to manage the Shipping/Logistics Team.
- Background in Luxury or retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of GCC customs procedures and regulations.
- Experience in handling import/export documentation and clearance processes.
- Familiarity with HS codes, duties, and tariff.
- Analytical, problem solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong numerical sense and excellent MS Excel skills to provide accurate analysis.
- Prior experience managing a freight team.

- Experience in the luxury fashion or retail apparel industry.
