Position Overview
The Lower School Learning Coach supports students academic growth by guiding daily learning routines, and providing one-on-one instructional support. The coach monitors student attendance and progress, reinforces effective study habits, encourages participation in classes and extracurricular activities, and fosters a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
The role also involves regular communication with parents and collaboration with teachers to meet individual student needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow the curriculum in its entirety for assigned grade levels.
- Learn and utilize the resources available through iCademy.
- Prepare for the school day by reviewing the advance preparation tab to ensure familiarity with learning areas and scheduled tasks for assigned students.
- Facilitate and guide students in their daily learning routine at the Knowledge Hub.
- Monitor and record student attendance and progress.
- Review teacher feedback with students and provide additional curriculum support through explanation, teaching, and one-on-one guidance as needed.
- Help students improve their study methods and habits.
- Encourage students to attend live teaching sessions (when applicable).
- Promote participation in clubs, virtual field trips, and other extracurricular activities.
- Communicate regularly with students legal guardians regarding attendance, progress, and reports.
- Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing classroom rules and expectations.
- Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Actively participate in scheduled conferences with teachers and Academic Advisors.
- Collaborate with assigned teachers to develop individual learning plans for students.
- Administer assessments to eligible students.
- Check school email at least twice daily.
- Adhere to iCademy's Parent-Student Handbook policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education (Master's Degree preferred)
- Valid and recognized teaching qualification / certification
- 5 years of experience teaching / supporting / tutoring lower school students
- Strong instructional and facilitation skills for young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, inclusive environment.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail for lesson preparation and progress tracking.
- Proficiency with digital learning platforms and technology-enhanced instruction.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools; proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with teachers, advisors, and school leadership.
- Adaptability and problem-solving skills to support diverse learning needs.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
