Job Description

Mission:

The Green Hydrogen Business Development Group at ACWA is at the forefront of developing world-scale green hydrogen, green ammonia, methanol, SAF and other synthetic fuels projects across the MENA region and globally. To support the strategic growth and leadership of this sector, the Market & Business Analyst will provide essential market insights, financial modelling, and competitive intelligence to guide investment decisions, project positioning, and commercial structuring.

The role is dedicated to consolidating knowledge of the emerging hydrogen economy, building decision-support models, and enabling ACWA to successfully compete in global markets for green fuels.

Key Responsibilities

Market Assessments:

  • Gather and consolidate data on hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and e-fuels demand and supply across target markets (EU, Asia, MENA, North America).
  • Analyze market drivers such as Regulatory mandates, Government incentives and policies, carbon markets, shipping and aviation fuel demand, and industrial decarbonization.
  • Develop landed price models for hydrogen and derivatives across importing regions (including transport, conversion, and logistics costs).
  • Maintain and update country and sector ID cards with market size, regulatory updates, trade agreements, and risk-opportunity assessments.

Competitive Intelligence:

  • Conduct systematic tracking of global green hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, and e-fuel projects under development.
  • Assess competitor strategies, project readiness, announced offtake agreements, and cost benchmarks.
  • Build and maintain a competitor intelligence database with SWOT analysis, capacity outlooks, technology choices, and consortium structures.
  • Provide quarterly intelligence briefings for leadership with maps and scorecards of key competitor projects.

Strategic & Financial Analysis:

  • Develop high level excel models and perform sensitivity analyses for hydrogen and derivatives projects.
  • Support valuation assessments for potential partnerships, JVs, investments, or M&A targets.
  • Run benchmarking scenarios on CAPEX/OPEX, LCOH, LCOA, and global landed price competitiveness.
  • Contribute to strategic planning exercises, project pipeline prioritization, and commercial structuring recommendations.

Presentation & Communication:

  • Prepare internal briefing notes, board-level slide decks, and investment committee presentations.
  • Synthesize market findings and analysis into concise, actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Support communications with strategy, investment, and project development teams, providing fact-based inputs for negotiations and stakeholder engagement.

Ad-hoc Analyses:

  • Deliver rapid-turnaround analyses as instructed by the Business Development Executive Leadership team within the Green Hydrogen Group.
  • Conduct thematic deep-dives on topics such as EU Delegated Acts, global subsidy frameworks (IRA, CfD schemes), and emerging trade corridors.

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Accuracy and quality of landed price models and competitive financial benchmarking.
  2. Comprehensiveness of competitor intelligence database and quarterly updates.
  3. Quality of internal presentations, briefing packs, and dashboards for executive decision-making.
  4. Timeliness and rigor in ad hoc strategic analyses.

Educational Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in business development (fuels) market analysis, business development, preferably in energy, renewables, hydrogen, or industrial gases.
  • Prior experience in low carbon fuels, is an advantage.

Job-Specific Knowledge

  • Knowledge of hydrogen, ammonia, e-fuels markets, and emerging regulatory frameworks and incentives promoting low carbon fuels usage.
  • Competitive intelligence methodologies, data mining, and project benchmarking techniques.
  • Familiarity with international energy trade, shipping, and industrial supply chain economics.
  • Basic financial modelling skills
