A Material Coordinator in the facade industry manages the end-to-end lifecycle of specialized building envelope materials—such as aluminum profiles, glass panels, and curtain wall systems—ensuring they are accurately quantified, procured, and delivered to meet project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Take-Off (MTO): Prepare accurate quantity calculations based on technical drawings and specifications.
- Procurement & Sourcing: Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and ensure timely procurement.
- Tracking & Logistics: Monitor fabrication progress (especially for aluminum and steel) and track delivery timelines against the project program.
- Quality & Compliance: Review technical submittals and Inspection Request (MIR) approvals to ensure materials comply with design standards and approved samples.
- Coordination: Act as a liaison between design, engineering, procurement, and site teams to resolve discrepancies in material specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed material registers, tracking systems, and closeout documentation for client turnover.
Core Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field is typically required.
- Experience: Most employers seek 3–6 years of experience specifically in material coordination or facade construction.
- Technical Knowledge:
