Job Purpose:
The Material Requirement Planner (MRP) is responsible for ensuring the timely availability of materials needed for production. This role involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating materials to meet production schedules while optimizing inventory levels. The MRP works closely with suppliers, production teams, and other stakeholders to maintain efficient operations and avoid delays in the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accountabilities:
-Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) systems to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components.
-Analyze production schedules, forecasts, and inventory levels to determine material needs.
-Generate and manage purchase orders based on material requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
-Monitor inventory levels to maintain optimal stock levels, avoiding both shortages and overstock situations.
-Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
-Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure proper storage, handling, and movement of materials.
-Communicate material needs and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of goods.
-Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
-Resolve issues related to supplier performance, including delays, quality problems, and shortages.
-Work closely with production teams to ensure materials are available for scheduled production runs.
-Address any material-related issues that could impact production timelines or quality.
-Adjust material plans as needed in response to changes in production schedules or unexpected events.
-Analyze MRP data to identify trends, forecast future material needs, and recommend improvements.
-Prepare regular reports on material status, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
-Use MRP software and other tools to track material usage and optimize planning processes.
-Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance material planning and inventory management practices.
-Implement best practices and new technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
-Ensure that all material planning activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
-Maintain accurate records and documentation related to material planning and inventory management.
