Materials Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Materials Engineer to join our team for major EPC projects in the oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel structures, fabrication, and workshop operations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards.

YOUR ROLE
As a Material Engineer you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of materials used across various projects in civil, marine, power, oil & gas, and plant sectors. Reporting to the Senior Material Engineer or Project Manager, the Material Engineer is responsible for material selection, specification, testing, procurement, and performance monitoring to meet project requirements and industry standards.
Material Selection and Specification
- Evaluate project requirements and select materials that meet operational, safety, and environmental standards.
- Develop material specifications in alignment with project needs and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure compatibility of materials with project designs.
Procurement Support
- Provide technical input for material procurement processes.
- Assist in preparing technical specifications for purchase orders and tenders.
- Evaluate vendor offerings for compliance with project standards.
Material Testing and Quality Assurance
- Develop and oversee material testing protocols to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Coordinate with third-party testing agencies and review test reports.
- Monitor material quality at various project sites and resolve non-conformance issues.
Inventory Management
- Monitor material inventory levels and coordinate with logistics and procurement teams for timely replenishment.
- Ensure optimal utilization of materials to minimize wastage.
Performance Monitoring
- Evaluate material performance during construction and operation phases.
- Identify potential risks or material failures and propose corrective actions.
Coordination and Reporting
- Liaise with project directors, COOs, and contractors to ensure smooth material management across clusters.
- Prepare technical reports, material assessments, and documentation for stakeholders.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in material engineering, preferably in the oil and gas, construction, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in material selection, quality assurance, and procurement support.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or related discipline
Expertise
- Strong understanding of materials science, metallurgy, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).
- Proficiency in using material management software and ERP systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
