Job Title : Mechanical Cost Estimator

Job Purpose
The Mechanical Cost Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical works in infrastructure projects, including pipelines, HVAC systems, pumping stations, utilities, and industrial installations. The role involves analyzing project specifications, drawings, and tender documents to determine material, labor, and equipment costs while ensuring competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and scope of work.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems (e.g., piping, HVAC, fire protection, utility systems).
- Perform quantity take-offs and material take-offs from drawings.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and cost breakdowns.
- Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams.
- Participate in tender clarification meetings and site visits when required.
- Maintain a database of historical costs, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Assist in post-tender negotiations and contract finalization.
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required, along with a minimum of five years of experience in mechanical estimation within infrastructure or EPC projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region.
- The candidate should also possess strong knowledge of mechanical systems commonly used in infrastructure projects, including piping, HVAC, and utility systems.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods and sequencing.
- Excellent ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical and cost estimation skills.
- Proficiency in estimation software/Willing to learn new software.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and standard tender documentation tools.
- Ability to work across multiple tenders under tight deadlines.
- Adaptability and willingness to grow into multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Ability to work under tight tender deadlines.
- Experience in Saudi/GCC market
