We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in Qatar, preferably with 510 years of professional experience within consultancy environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, coordination, and review of mechanical systems across a diverse range of projects, ensuring full compliance with international standards, local authority regulations, and sustainable design practices.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for all stages of mechanical design development, from concept and detailed design through authority approvals and construction coordination, covering residential, commercial, industrial, healthcare, and infrastructure projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, develop, and review mechanical engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for: HVAC systems, plumbing and drainage, firefighting systems, and other related mechanical services
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and energy efficiency studies.
- Use mechanical design software such as HAP, Elite, and other relevant engineering tools.
- Ensure compliance with QCS, PWA, Kahramaa, QCDD, and applicable international codes and standards.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other MEP disciplines to ensure fully integrated designs.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
- Provide technical support during construction and respond to site-related design queries.
- Conduct site visits as required to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
- Support value engineering initiatives and sustainable design strategies
- Propose innovative and efficient mechanical solutions to enhance system performance and reduce environmental impact.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and progress updates for clients and internal teams.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, BOQs, and cost estimates for mechanical works.
- Coordinate with local authorities for design approvals and NOCs.
- Interface with clients to clarify requirements and provide practical engineering solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree is an advantage).
- 5 - 10 years of professional experience in mechanical design consultancy.
- Experience in Qatar projects and familiarity with local authority requirements is highly preferred.
- Valid MMUP/UPDA Grade A license (mandatory)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting systems design.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software and AutoCAD/Revit.
- Good communication, coordination, and technical reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Qatar-based applicant is preferred.
