Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will serve as part of the Program Management Consultant (PMC) team for a major airport development project. This role ensures that all mechanical systemsincluding HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, fuel systems, BHS, and special airport systemsare designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in full compliance with project requirements, international standards, and aviation authority regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve mechanical design submissions, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
  • Ensure designs comply with end client and local authority regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, civil, ICT, special systems) to ensure integrated design solutions.

Construction Supervision

  • Monitor site activities to ensure mechanical works are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Conduct inspections for HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, fuel systems, and airport-specific mechanical installations.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues on-site in coordination with contractors and the PMC team.

Project Management & Coordination

  • Participate in progress meetings, technical workshops, and coordination sessions with contractors, consultants, and airport authorities.
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Review project schedules related to mechanical works and ensure alignment with overall project milestones.
  • Support change management processes, including variation orders and claims evaluation.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • Oversee testing and commissioning of all mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with performance requirements.
  • Review commissioning plans, test reports, O&M manuals, and as-built documentation.
  • Support airport operational readiness and handover processes (ORAT).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • 715 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in airport or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Prior experience working with PMC/PMO organizations is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of international mechanical standards and aviation-specific systems.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and problemsolving skills.
