The Mechanical Technician performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks pertaining to the installation, maintenance, repair and service of the electrical and mechanical equipment, instruments and provide technical staff support to operations

Principal Accountabilities
- Ensures compliance with safety requirements and liaison and coordination with other Departments as required.
- Manages and ensures mechanical spare parts availability for scheduled and projected jobs.
Job Responsibilities 2
- Ensures equipment, materials and tools are on hand for work execution. Reports resources and time utilized, job scope expansion, rework or deferred maintenance as required; also keeping all tasks & activities logged and updated.
- Assists in preparing maintenance activities for execution, ensuring permits, tools, materials and equipment in place in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Ensures maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with client and industry standard policies and procedure.
- Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs and service facilities, machinery and equipment.
- Upholds with organization Safety and QA/QC procedures and strictly enforces them amongst the workforces.
- Performs corrective mechanical maintenance by troubleshooting the cause of malfunctions using visual inspection and precision measuring and testing instruments and replacing or repairing broken parts
- Maintains effective Health and Safety systems, including completion of risk assessments and method statements and toolbox talks where appropriate.
- Adheres to safety orders and comply with OSHA regulations in all aspects of work.
- Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools used in the performance of assigned duties
- Lead man in the inspection, checking, preparation and implementation of the mechanical work.
- Monitors mill operation and other related mechanical activities to troubleshoot problems to minimize downtime.
- Implement lubrication and other preventive maintenance work.
- Supervises work of mechanics and skilled workers.
- Supervises shop work.
- Coordinate with other department in the implementation of maintenance work

• ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Education
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or any Related Technical Certificates
