Project Overview
We're hiring a DIT to support a project focused on organizing, consolidating, and properly backing up previously filmed episodes. This is a project-based role for up to 2 months (we can contract 1 month initially, with the option to extend to a second month based on progress and needs).
Key Responsibilities
Media audit & assessment
- Review existing footage/episode assets across drives and folders.
- Identify missing media, duplicates, corrupted files, or inconsistent naming.
- Flag any gaps and provide a clear action plan/report.
Organization & file structure
- Create and implement a clean, scalable folder structure per episode.
- Standardize file naming conventions for camera originals, audio, proxies, exports, and project files.
- Ensure logical separation of: RAW footage, audio, graphics, project files, exports, and delivery masters.
Data integrity & backups
- Consolidate all assets into a primary master storage location.
- Perform verified copies using checksum verification.
- Set up and execute a reliable backup strategy (e.g., mirrored drives / 3-2-1 approach where applicable).
- Maintain backup logs and documentation for traceability.
Documentation & handover
- Maintain detailed inventory lists (by episode) including storage locations, file counts, and notes.
- Deliver final documentation: folder map, naming rules, backup status, and any issues encountered.
- Provide a clean handover package for post-production/editorial teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a DIT / Data Wrangler / Media Manager, ideally with episodic or multi-deliverable content.
- Strong understanding of data management best practices: verified offloads, checksums, versioning, and storage hygiene.
- High attention to detail and ability to handle large volumes of footage systematically.
- Comfortable working with multiple drive formats and large datasets.
- Familiarity with post workflows (Premiere Pro / Avid / Resolve) and proxy structures.
- Experience building long-term archives for studios or episodic productions.
