Job Description

Project Overview

We're hiring a DIT to support a project focused on organizing, consolidating, and properly backing up previously filmed episodes. This is a project-based role for up to 2 months (we can contract 1 month initially, with the option to extend to a second month based on progress and needs).

Key Responsibilities

Media audit & assessment

  • Review existing footage/episode assets across drives and folders.
  • Identify missing media, duplicates, corrupted files, or inconsistent naming.
  • Flag any gaps and provide a clear action plan/report.

Organization & file structure

  • Create and implement a clean, scalable folder structure per episode.
  • Standardize file naming conventions for camera originals, audio, proxies, exports, and project files.
  • Ensure logical separation of: RAW footage, audio, graphics, project files, exports, and delivery masters.

Data integrity & backups

  • Consolidate all assets into a primary master storage location.
  • Perform verified copies using checksum verification.
  • Set up and execute a reliable backup strategy (e.g., mirrored drives / 3-2-1 approach where applicable).
  • Maintain backup logs and documentation for traceability.

Documentation & handover

  • Maintain detailed inventory lists (by episode) including storage locations, file counts, and notes.
  • Deliver final documentation: folder map, naming rules, backup status, and any issues encountered.
  • Provide a clean handover package for post-production/editorial teams.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a DIT / Data Wrangler / Media Manager, ideally with episodic or multi-deliverable content.
  • Strong understanding of data management best practices: verified offloads, checksums, versioning, and storage hygiene.
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle large volumes of footage systematically.
  • Comfortable working with multiple drive formats and large datasets.
  • Familiarity with post workflows (Premiere Pro / Avid / Resolve) and proxy structures.
  • Experience building long-term archives for studios or episodic productions.

Contract Details

  • Duration: 1 month initially, with potential extension up to 2 months total
  • Location: [On-site]
  • Start Date: ASAP

Deliverables

  • Fully organized episode library with standardized folder structure and naming
  • Verified consolidation of all assets
  • Proper backup system in place + verification logs
  • Episode-by-episode inventory document + final handover report
