Main Purpose of the Job
Our client requires a Medical Planner, who is responsible for leading comprehensive clinical, operational, and infrastructural assessments of healthcare facilities worldwide. This role combines clinical expertise with healthcare planning and operational analysis to deliver evidence-based recommendations for the upgrade, reorganization, or expansion of acute and tertiary healthcare facilities. The Medical Planner ensures that service models, patient pathways, functional layouts, staffing structures, and support systems are aligned with international healthcare planning and accreditation standards (FGI, NFPA, HTM, JCI, WHO, IEEA, Australasian HFG, etc.).

Desired Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or international equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Postgraduate qualification or formal training in Healthcare Planning, Hospital/Health Administration (MHA), Public Health, Healthcare Management, or Business Administration (MBA Healthcare focus) is highly preferred.
- Formal certification or specialized training in healthcare facility planning, hospital design, or healthcare operations management is an advantage.
Desired Experience
- 712 years of progressive experience in healthcare delivery, healthcare planning, or hospital operations.
- Proven track record in:

Job Specification Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Medical Planning & Facility Assessment
- Conduct functional and space assessments of hospital departments, patient pathways, and service models.
- Evaluate departmental adjacencies, capacity, bed allocation, and future service needs.
- Recommend improvements to layouts, workflows, and master planning in alignment with international standards.
2. Clinical & Service Evaluation
- Review adequacy, safety, and utilization of clinical services across all major specialties.
- Identify service gaps and recommend expansions, reorganizations, or optimization strategies.
3. Hospital Operations & Workflow Review
- Assess patient flow, staffing patterns, and operational efficiency across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and diagnostic areas.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose practical, evidence-based improvements.
4. Infection Control & Support Services Review
- Evaluate infection prevention practices, sterilization flows, environmental hygiene, and support services (pharmacy, laboratory, CSSD, radiology, etc.).
- Ensure alignment with international safety and infection control standards.
5. Integrated Reporting & Strategic Recommendations
- Prepare consolidated assessment reports with prioritized recommendations, timelines, indicative budgets, and improvement plans.
- Coordinate with biomedical, architectural, MEP, and other technical disciplines for cohesive multi-disciplinary outputs.
- Classify recommendations by urgency (Critical / Major / Minor / Opportunity).
- Advise on future-state development, phased implementation, renovation strategies, or full facility replacement options.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Deliver formal assessment reports including clinical/operational findings, functional programming analysis, space adequacy evaluations, master-planning recommendations, risk/compliance ratings, diagrams, flowcharts, and photographic evidence.
- Maintain detailed field notes, KPI tables, checklists, and photographic logs.
- Provide regular progress updates (minimum every 48 hours during site missions).
- Liaise with hospital leadership and clinical/administrative staff to validate findings and compliance.
On-site / Off-site Status: Primarily on-site with extensive international travel required.
