Job Summary
We seek a dedicated medical illustrator specializing in highly accurate and detailed human body anatomy. This role is ideal for an artist with both an advanced understanding of human anatomy and a talent for producing precise, engaging illustrations that serve educational and scientific purposes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Anatomical Illustrations: Create detailed and realistic anatomical illustrations, focusing on human body systems, organs, musculature, and skeletal structures.
- Scientific Accuracy: Use references, models, and scientific resources to ensure the highest accuracy in anatomical detail, proportion, and structure.
- Collaboration with Science Experts
- Adjust for Audience: Tailor illustrations to suit diverse audiences, from medical students to laypersons, by adjusting levels of detail and artistic style.
- Review and Iterate: Incorporate feedback from subject matter experts and revise illustrations to ensure clarity, accuracy, and educational impact.
- Research and Innovation: Stay updated on anatomy and medical illustration trends, incorporating the latest techniques and styles into your work.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Illustration, Biological Arts, Fine Arts, or a related field with extensive coursework in human anatomy is preferred.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience as an anatomy artist, with a portfolio showcasing human anatomical studies and scientifically accurate illustrations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in digital illustration software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate) and knowledge of 3D tools (e.g., ZBrush, Blender) is a plus.
- Scientific Background: Strong understanding of human biology and anatomy, with the ability to accurately represent complex structures.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail in anatomical features, proportions, and textures to create lifelike and scientifically valid illustrations.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas visually and work effectively with non-artistic team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Art Certification: Certification or advanced study in medical illustration or a related field is a plus.
- Experience in Medical Education: Background in creating illustrations for educational or medical publications is advantageous.
- Portfolio Requirement: Portfolio should include detailed studies of human anatomy, including musculature, skeletal structures, and/or organs.
