Job Description

MEP Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering

  • Develop, review, and approve MEP design drawings, calculations, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, IEC, etc.).
  • Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and energy efficiency analysis.
  • Coordinate design interfaces between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems.

2. Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure proper installation and alignment with design intent.
  • Review and approve MEP shop drawings and material submittals.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and installation of systems.

3. Construction & Supervision

  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems.
  • Resolve technical issues and design conflicts during project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during installation.
  • Monitor project progress and report to the Project Manager.

4. Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, material approvals, and site instructions.
  • Support QA/QC inspections and commissioning procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Experience: 310 years in MEP design or construction (depending on position level).
  • Certifications (preferred): LEED, PMP, or Chartered Engineer.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, or other BIM tools.
  • Familiarity with international standards and codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, NEC, etc.).
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

  • Office-based with frequent visits to construction sites.
  • May require occasional travel for project coordination or client meetings.
