Role Summary
MEP Manager is a professional designation responsible for planning and design in the field of Mechanical, Electrical, and plumbing (MEP) practice, including developing policies standards, inspection procedure and evaluation tools for MEP concerns along with preparing, reviewing drawing, specification, and cost estimates for the mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.
Role Description
- Reviewing tenders for MEP pricing and assisting the tender department in pricing MEP works
- Negotiating best MEP prices from subcontractors
- Site supervision for MEP subcontractors on company's projects
- Managing subcontractor's variations and final account
- The selected candidate will be heavily involved in the estimation, design and engineering for F&B Outlets, Retail Stores, office interiors, and other commercial interior projects.
- Review and negotiation of subcontractor's tenders
- He will coordinate the MEP works through the schematic design development, contract document and execution phases of a project.
- Supervise the MEP subcontractors on site
- Assisting draftsman while preparing shop drawings, checking before submission,
- Coordinating with Clients representative/ stakeholder
- Lead MEP coordination across design, procurement, execution, commissioning, and handover stages
- Ensure MEP designs and installations comply with local authority regulations, fire codes, and project specifications
- Review and approve technical submittals, material approvals, and method statements related to MEP works
- Proactively identify design clashes, constructability issues, and cost risks, proposing practical solutions
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, and system integration with consultants and authorities
- Oversee preparation and submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover documentation
- Monitor MEP progress against project schedules and support recovery plans where required
- Implement value engineering initiatives without compromising quality or statutory compliance
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards during MEP installation and commissioning activities
- Act as the primary technical interface for MEP matters with clients, consultants, and local authorities
- Support project managers during technical meetings, inspections, and authority approvals
- Coordinate with procurement teams for long-lead MEP items and supplier finalization
- Provide technical inputs during client design reviews and change management discussions
- Assist in cost control, budget tracking, and forecasting related to MEP packages
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures for MEP installations
- Conduct periodic audits of MEP works to ensure compliance with approved drawings and standards
- Support continuous improvement through lessons learned and post-project reviews
- Strong understanding of authority approval processes in the GCC/Qatar
- Ability to manage multiple fast-track interior fit-out projects simultaneously
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil engineering or architecture preferred
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years related working experience with UPDA certification in a construction/engineering environment, with preferable knowledge of MEP and associated works within the interior fit-out project market
- Sound technical knowledge of MEP works (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, Firefighting etc.)
- Good knowledge of material & subcontracting prices for project estimation purposes
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a multinational market environment
