Position Overview
The Museum Education Programmes Section Head is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs and initiatives at the museum. This role ensures that the museum's educational offerings align with institutional goals, engage diverse audiences, and foster lifelong learning. The Section Head supervises education staff, collaborates with curators and external partners, and serves as a key ambassador for the museum's educational mission.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Leadership and Management:
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate education department staff and volunteers.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Manage departmental budgets and resources efficiently.
Partnerships and Community Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships with schools, universities, cultural organizations, and community groups.
Represent the museum at educational conferences and public events.
Evaluation and Reporting:
Establish metrics for assessing program effectiveness and audience engagement.
Prepare regular reports on educational activities and outcomes for museum leadership.
Curatorial Collaboration:
Work closely with curators and exhibition teams to develop interpretive materials and gallery experiences.
Grant Writing and Fundraising:
Identify funding opportunities and assist in grant applications to support educational initiatives.
Collaborate with the development team on fundraising campaigns related to education.
