Job Title: National Sales Manager Tyres

Location: Lagos, Nigeria (Nationwide Scope)

Industry: Automotive / Tyres (Passenger Car Segment)

Reporting To: Managing Director

A renowned PAN Africa distributor of genuine automotive accessories including tyres, spark plugs, filters, bearings, shock absorbers, and lubricants.

Role Overview

The National Sales Manager will lead commercial strategy, field sales operations, channel development, and market growth across Nigeria for the passenger car tyre segment (as well as OTR, LT, and Agri tyres). The role requires strong market intelligence, supplier coordination, pricing and cost structure understanding, and experience in launching and positioning tyre brands for sustainable growth. The successful candidate will drive revenue, profitability, and brand visibility across retail, wholesale, dealer, and fleet networks.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial & Sales Leadership

  • Develop and execute a nationwide sales strategy for passenger car tyres across all target channels.
  • Drive sales planning, forecasting, volume targets, and commercial budgets aligned to business goals.
  • Build and manage a dealer/distributor network covering key Nigerian regions and markets.

Supplier & Brand Interface

  • Collaborate with international suppliers and manufacturing partners regarding supply planning, specifications, pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate product portfolio planning and SKU strategy based on market needs.

Pricing, Costing & Positioning

  • Build cost models and commercial pricing structures to maintain competitive margins.
  • Set market price positioning aligned to segment benchmarks, customer affordability, and competitor pricing.
  • Support finance in costing, landed cost evaluation, duty, logistics, and margin control.

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Conduct competitive market analysis, volume trends, brand share, price benchmarking, and channel behavior.
  • Identify target customer profiles such as retailers, workshops, ride-hailing cars, fleet operators, and private car owners.

New Brand Launch / Expansion

  • Lead the launch plan for new tyre brands or product lines in Nigeria, including pricing, positioning, channel selection, and communication strategy.
  • Plan promotional campaigns, marketing collaterals, and brand activation in collaboration with marketing teams.

Operations & Channel Development

  • Strengthen channel performance: distributor onboarding, dealer programs, incentives, trade schemes, and field sales controls.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and negotiate long-term commercial agreements.
  • Review monthly revenue performance, sales funnel pipeline, and distributor sell-out metrics.

Team & Performance Management

  • Lead, motivate, and train regional sales teams and on-ground sales representatives.
  • Set KPIs, route-to-market plans, and track productivity, coverage, and territory expansion.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • 15+ years of sales experience in tyres, automotive components, and related products.
  • Strong understanding of African tyre market, passenger car segment, and dealer/fleet ecosystem.
  • Experience with supplier interface, import models, pricing structures, and brand positioning.
  • Proven record of launching or scaling tyre brands in emerging or competitive markets.
  • Strong analytical capability for costing, budgeting, market analysis, and commercial reporting.
  • Ability to travel extensively within Nigeria and engage in field-level business growth.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
