The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
The role involves developing scalable and resilient network architectures aligned with business objectives and SLAs, as well as supporting Network Operations Center (NOC) activities to ensure continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of network services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network Design & Implementation
Design, configure, and deploy enterprise network solutions across:
o LAN
o WLAN
o WAN
o Network Access Control (NAC)
Develop scalable, secure, and highly available network architectures.
Implement routing, switching, wireless, and segmentation solutions based on business requirements.
Collaborate with the Information Security team to implement network security tools, policies, and best practices.
Conduct site visits for new deployments, infrastructure setup, and implementation validation.
Ensure solutions meet defined SLAs and performance standards.
2. Troubleshooting & Operational Support
Perform routine network maintenance, upgrades, patching, and security hardening.
Troubleshoot and resolve network and connectivity issues across enterprise environments.
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for network-related incidents.
Participate in NOC activities, ensuring timely monitoring and resolution of alerts.
Conduct on-site support visits when required for incident resolution or infrastructure upgrades.
3. Monitoring & Performance Optimization
Monitor network performance metrics including:
o Availability
o Utilization
o Throughput
o Latency
o Packet loss and goodput
Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend optimization strategies.
Ensure adherence to configuration and change management processes.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including:
o Network diagrams
o Configuration baselines
o Change logs
Prepare detailed reports on network performance, incidents, and system logs.
Ensure documentation supports audit readiness and operational continuity.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience
Minimum 7+ years of experience in IT networking environments.
Proven experience as a Network Engineer or Network Administrator in enterprise environments.
Experience supporting both deployment projects and operational support functions.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
Certifications
Mandatory:
CCNA
CCNP
Preferred:
CCIE (advantageous)
Technical Skills & Expertise
Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including:
o BGP
o OSPF
o VLAN
o VRF
o MPLS
o STP
o VTP
Strong understanding of packet flow and network traffic analysis.
Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies including:
o Routers
o Switches
o Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
o Access Points (AP)
o Cisco ISE
o Cisco DNA Center
Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools such as:
o Cisco DNA Center
o SolarWinds
o Cisco Prime
o Wireshark
Familiarity with change management and configuration control processes.
