NOC Engineer Job Description
responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the network infrastructure. This includes monitoring systems, identifying issues, and executing timely resolutions to maintain optimal performance and uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network performance using specialized tools and dashboards
- Respond to alerts and incidents, providing first-line support and escalating when necessary
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues across routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
- Document incidents, resolutions, and performance metrics for continuous improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including system engineers and IT support
- Participate in 24/7 shift rotations to ensure continuous coverage
- Assist in network upgrades, configuration changes, and preventive maintenance
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and operational standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix)
- Familiarity with ticketing systems ( BMC, ITSM, ServiceNow, Jira)
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) for automation tasks
- Excellent problem-solving , analytical skills and documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with other IT teams.
- Incident & Change Management: Follow ITIL best practices for incident response, change management, and service request handling in addition to Root Cause analysis.
- Familiar with Virtualization technology and cloud platforms (VMware, Nutanix and Azure).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- Experience: 2+ years of experience as NOC Engineer in enterprise IT environments, with proven experience in Network and infrastructure monitoring.
- Certifications: CCNA, or equivalent.
