About The Role
At Octane, technology and security are critical to maintaining reliable and scalable business operations. As a Network & Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, managing, monitoring, and securing Octane's network infrastructure while ensuring high availability, performance, and protection against security threats.
This role combines
hands-on network administration with cybersecurity responsibilities. You will work closely with IT and other teams to maintain secure connectivity, identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, troubleshoot network and security incidents, and continuously improve Octane's overall infrastructure security.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, configure, maintain, and monitor network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPNs, firewalls, switches, and routers.
- Monitor network performance, availability, traffic, and capacity to ensure reliable connectivity.
- Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, network access controls, and security policies.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve network and security incidents in a timely manner.
- Monitor security alerts, logs, and network activity to detect potential threats or vulnerabilities.
- Implement and maintain network security controls, access policies, and segmentation.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and support remediation of identified security risks.
- Manage network access, user permissions, and secure remote connectivity.
- Ensure systems and network devices are properly patched, updated, and securely configured.
- Support endpoint and infrastructure security initiatives in collaboration with the IT team.
- Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for recurring network and security issues.
- Support IT audits, security assessments, and compliance requirements when needed.
- Evaluate and recommend network and security tools, technologies, and improvements.
- Contribute to business continuity, disaster recovery, and network resilience initiatives.

What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, network security, or infrastructure security.
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches, and network security solutions.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, access controls, segmentation, and secure network architecture.
- Experience with network monitoring and security monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of vulnerability management, security hardening, patch management, and risk mitigation.
- Experience troubleshooting complex network and security incidents.
- Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of endpoint security, IDS/IPS, SIEM, or EDR solutions is a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Security+, or similar are a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive mindset with a strong focus on security, reliability, and continuous improvement.
