Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Odoo & Backend Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, customizing, and maintaining Odoo ERP systems while also contributing to backend development using Node.js and related technologies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient business applications. Experience with ErpNext or Frappe frameworks is a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with functional consultants, internal technical teams, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Design, develop, and customize Odoo modules and workflows to meet operational and business needs.
- Build and maintain Node.js backend services to support integrations, APIs, and custom applications.
- Write high-quality, efficient Python and JavaScript (Node.js) code to implement new features and system integrations.
- Manage and optimize database structures (primarily PostgreSQL and MongoDB or similar).
- Configure and maintain Odoo ERP, including installation, data migration, user access, and system security.
- Conduct comprehensive testing, debugging, and performance optimization of Odoo and Node.js-based systems.
- Ensure smooth integration of Odoo with other internal or external applications through RESTful APIs or custom connectors.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users and technical teams.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in Odoo, Node.js, and ERP technologies, applying them to improve system performance and reliability.
- Contribute to architecture planning, scalability improvements, and deployment automation for backend and ERP systems.
- Support and manage custom-built applications and explore opportunities for migration or integration with other ERP solutions when required.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on experience as an Odoo Technical Consultant or Backend Engineer.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Odoo Framework (v13+ preferred).
- Proven experience with Node.js, Express.js, and REST API development.
- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL (for Odoo) and MongoDB/MySQL (for Node.js).
- Experience customizing and extending Odoo modules using XML, JavaScript, and QWeb.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as HTML, CSS, and modern JS frameworks.
- Experience deploying and maintaining Odoo.sh environments.
- Solid understanding of software design principles, scalability, and version control (Git).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to design creative, scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience with ERPNext or Frappe Framework is a plus.
- Domain knowledge in Finance, Supply Chain, and Retail is preferred.
- Odoo Technical Certification or related credentials are an advantage.
