Operations Director - Development of International Logistics Structure

International Role | Extensive Travel | FMCG / Fresh Supply Chain

We are looking for a highly experienced operations leader who will play a key role in developing and scaling our hubs across multiple countries. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring frequent travel and on-the-ground execution.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Hub Operations

Own all operational processes at the hub: inbound from farmers, multi-temperature storage, grading, packing, order assembly, and dispatch.

Operating Model & Organisation Design

Lead make-or-buy decisions (3PL vs in-house vs hybrid), prepare and defend operational budgets and headcount plans, and implement the selected model.

Process Design & Continuous Improvement

Design, implement, and optimize operational processes. Introduce KPI systems and performance reviews. Lead or support WMS/TMS implementation.

Quality & Loss Management

Ensure compliance with quality standards across categories. Reduce product losses, rework, damage, and customer complaints.

People Leadership

Build and lead the hub team. Define structure, plan shifts, oversee onboarding and training, and foster a culture of ownership and safety.

Cost & Budget Ownership

Manage OPEX (labour, energy, packaging, outsourced services, maintenance). Drive cost-per-ton efficiency while maintaining product integrity.

Supplier & 3PL Management

Select and manage outsourced labour providers, 3PL partners, maintenance teams, and service providers under clear SLA/KPI frameworks.

Compliance & Safety

Ensure compliance with local regulations and internal policies in food safety, cold chain, labour practices, and HSE standards.

Capacity Development

Plan and execute hub expansions, layout changes, and line upgrades aligned with 35 year growth plans.

Experience Required

• 10+ years of operational leadership in warehousing, hubs, or production within FMCG or fresh food
• Strong experience managing fresh fruit & vegetables or temperature-controlled products
• Experience in export hubs or retail distribution centers is a strong advantage
• Willingness to travel extensively and lead cross-country projects

English fluent (working language).
