Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Packet Transport Operation Support Engineer to support and manage IP/MPLS network operations in a telecom environment. The role requires strong expertise in network operations, migration, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of packet transport infrastructure with 24x7 support readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 24x7 operational support, including on-call incident handling from NOC.
- Lead and execute large-scale IP/MPLS network migrations and cutovers.
- Perform impact analysis, risk assessment, and develop migration & rollback plans.
- Configure and validate services across L2/L3 VPN environments.
- Monitor network health using NMS tools and ensure high service availability.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across Cisco, Huawei, and Juniper platforms.
- Plan and implement network upgrades to support traffic growth.
- Prepare and execute MOPs (Method of Procedure) for network changes.
- Participate in CAB reviews and post-implementation analysis.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with change management and operational processes.
- Provide onsite support when required, including hardware troubleshooting.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong experience in IP/MPLS networks within ISP/Telecom environments
- Deep knowledge of:
- Routing: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS
- MPLS: LDP, RSVP-TE, Segment Routing
- VPNs: L2VPN, L3VPN, VPLS
- Hands-on experience with:
- Cisco (ASR 9K, NCS)
- Huawei (NE40, NE9K, CX600)
- Juniper (MX Series)
- Expertise in network troubleshooting, migration, and implementation
- Familiarity with network automation (Python, Ansible, Netconf/YANG)
- Strong understanding of traffic engineering and IP addressing strategies
Core Operational Duties
- Analyze logs, alarms, and performance reports of network elements
- Handle service requests and change requests as per process
- Coordinate with vendors (e.g., TAC) for issue resolution
- Perform software upgrades and configuration changes
- Monitor traffic trends and utilization across network links
- Support multi-vendor environments including Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, and load balancers
- Ensure adherence to SLA and operational standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Diploma in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field
- Relevant certifications preferred: CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE, HCIP/HCIE
