Job Summary
The ideal candidate for the Painter position should have experience in applying durable coatings to machinery to protect against corrosion and environmental damage. Key responsibilities include surface preparation, paint mixing and application, adhering to safety regulations, maintaining equipment, and conducting quality control inspections.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Daily duties may include the following activities:
- Apply paint to heavy machinery using techniques and equipment such as spray guns, brushes, and rollers.
- Clean, sand, and blast surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of paint.
- Mix and match paints and coatings to achieve the specified colours and finishes.
- Protect areas of the machinery that are not to be painted.
- Visually inspect painted surfaces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Clean, calibrate, and maintain all painting tools and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure the work area is clean and organised.
Qualifications
- Required 1-3 years experience in the heavy equipment industry or auto painting is often preferred.
- Proficiency with painting equipment, paint mixing, and colour matching.
- Ability to lift heavy items, stand, walk, crawl, and stoop for extended periods.
- A strong focus on detail and accuracy to ensure a high-quality finish.
- A strong understanding of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with project personnel and other team members.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
