Role Description Payroll & Accounts Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll & Accounts Accountant to join our Abu Dhabi office. This is a full-time, on-site role responsible not only for payroll management but also for supporting core accounting and financial operations.
The successful candidate will manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensure compliance with UAE labor law and WPS regulations, and handle general accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. The role requires close coordination with HR, operations, and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely financial processing.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll accurately through WPS in compliance with UAE regulations.
- Verify timesheets, overtime, leave salary, EOSB calculations, and deductions.
- Ensure payroll compliance with MOHRE, NAFIS (if applicable), and labor contracts.
- Prepare salary reports, payroll summaries, and management reports.
- Handle employee salary queries and maintain payroll confidentiality.
- Coordinate with HR for new joiners, resignations, final settlements, and contract updates.
Accounts & Finance Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger and post journal entries.
- Handle accounts payable (supplier invoices, payment processing).
- Handle accounts receivable (client invoicing, follow-ups, reconciliation).
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Monitor petty cash and expense claims.
- Assist in VAT filing and ensure compliance with UAE tax regulations.
- Support audit preparation (internal and external audits).
- Prepare monthly financial reports and support budgeting activities.
- Maintain proper documentation and financial record control.
- Monitor project-related costs (marine repair / shipbuilding projects).
- Support cost allocation and job costing per vessel/project.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in payroll and accounting.
- Strong knowledge of UAE WPS, MOHRE regulations, and EOSB calculations.
- Working knowledge of UAE VAT regulations.
- Experience in marine, shipbuilding, construction, or industrial sectors is preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software / ERP systems.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, payroll sheets).
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
