Job Summary
The Payroll Officer is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, maintaining payroll records, and addressing employee payroll-related queries. The role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and coordination with HR and Finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll accurately and on time for all employees
- Maintain employee payroll records, including salaries, deductions, bonuses, and overtime
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity, and labor laws
- Calculate and process final settlements, leave encashment, and arrears
- Prepare and submit statutory reports and returns within timelines
- Handle payroll audits and respond to internal and external audit queries
- Coordinate with HR for employee data changes (joining, exits, promotions, increments)
- Address employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll data and employee information
- Support year-end activities including Form 16, tax declarations, and reconciliations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or HR
- Proven experience in payroll processing
- Sound knowledge of payroll laws and statutory compliance
- Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll software
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with payroll systems (SAP, ADP, Zoho Payroll, or similar)
- Knowledge of income tax calculations and labor law compliance
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
