Job Overview

If you are a dynamic and innovative professional with a passion for teaching Physics and a real commitment to a holistic education, then the British International School, Cairo could be the school for you.

We seek an experienced and well-qualified teacher of Physics with previous experience of teaching within the National Curriculum for England or a British-style setting. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Physics across the Senior School including GCSE and IB, and General Science in Key Stage 3. Experience of teaching IB is desirable. The school has excellent facilities and resources for teaching Science. The Science Department works effectively as a team sharing ideas and promoting learning.

Person Specification

graduate in Physics or a related subject with Qualified Teacher Status and a MINIMUM of three years teaching experience post-QTS;

enthusiastic and innovative teacher with a genuine passion for teaching, who can motivate and inspire students using a variety of strategies;

recent experience teaching Physics within the National Curriculum for England and (I)GCSE, A level or IB;

includes assessment for learning as an integral part of classroom practice;

understands how to stretch more able students and support those who need further intervention;

works collaboratively as a member of a team;

committed to her/his own professional development;

enjoys the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities;

meets the school's safeguarding requirements in full.

All staff are expected to show a genuine commitment to supporting co-curricular activities, school events and school trips. To comply with Egyptian employment law, applicants must have QTS and a minimum of three years teaching post qualification teaching experience.
